Conveniently located in the towns of Bedford and Yorktown in Westchester County, NY, Shady Lane Farm has all the amenities of a top ‘A’ rated Hunter/Jumper barn. We are one of the few farms left in Westchester that offer lessons to those who do not own their own horse along with those that do...and we specialize in teaching all riders the proper basics.

Established in early 1962 we were originally located in Ossining on Shady Lane Farm Rd. Since Shady Lane first began, many top horses and ponies have been trained to go on to be champions in their divisions. Alexandra "Alex" Dunaif, Shady Lane’s Head Trainer began riding at three years old. Alex's riding career has included many top honors including Pleasure Horse Champion at the Sleepy Hollow County Club Horse Show in 1964 at age 7 on Shady Lane Farm's Diny. Alex was also the winner of the prestigious ASPCA MaClay finals at Madison Square Garden in 1974. She was chosen from the 1980 Olympic Screening Trails for further training with the Equestrian Team. Alex and Shady Lane have devoted the last 17 years to working with riders of all ages.

Along with our extensive lesson program for both children and adults, Shady Lane also offers a Summer Riding Program. The Summer Program is designed to teach children to ride at their best level and to learn about the care of horses and ponies. It is Alex's belief that the best riders are ones who truly know about their horses.
